See what our customers think of their Haygain Hay
Steamers:
"I am so pleased
with Asti, it is lovely to see her tucking into a hay net and pulling great
mouthfuls out rather than her picking at it. She has always been so
difficult to feed, what she liked one day she wouldn’t touch the next, it
was the same with both hard feed and hay or haylage, so a real challenge to
keep weight on her. When the Haygain arrived she was weighing in at 460Kg
which isn’t much for a 16.1hh TB, but already after just a few months she
has come back up to 480Kg and looks fabulous.
I hate to admit I am already looking
forward to next winter to see if I can actually keep her eating all winter
with her steamed hay. She has been a real challenge and at worst comes out
of winter at 420Kg with gastric ulcers and looking terrible. The other
positive note I have especially with this horse is with her eating more
fibre my hard feed bill has finally gone down. When she was picking at hay
or haylage I had to offer her more hard feeds, not ideal for her nor my
pocket, so it is nice that now she can have her steamed hay adlib when in
and down to 3 small hard feeds a day for nutrients.
I think I calculated that now Asti is
not having to have a range of different haylage and sacks of various feeds I
can cover the cost of the Haygain with her alone in 4 to 5 months, and of
course if she does not have to have Gastrogard it will be even quicker to
cover!
Anyway, excellent and thank you for
extending the trial while I made the decision, I just had to know she was
going to eat the steamed hay for more than a few days, although I do have
one whinge, I now have a horse that dribbles at the sight of a hay net!"

"In February 2011 my mare was diagnosed
with COPD, which the vet described as being chronic. He asked me if I would
be interested in trialling a Haygain steamer as he felt the cause of the
COPD was due to a dust allergy from the hay and he felt a Haygain steamer
would help.
Two days after seeing the vet I had a
Haygain Steamer on my yard. The steamer was very simple to use and quickly
became part of my daily routine. The smell of the steamed hay on a cold
winter morning caught the attention of the horses on our yard and my mare
loved the taste of the steamed hay.
Two weeks after the diagnosis my vet
returned to examine my mare and was very impressed by the improvement. She
made a speedy recovery through eating sterile, tasty hay!
Using a Haygain steamer meant there was
no soaking hay and struggling to lift heavy, wet haynets. When the hay has
been steamed it is easy to handle, and carry, and it stay’s sterile for 24
hours.
This piece of equipment has, without
doubt, done wonders for my mare and we have a lovely summer to look forward
to."

“HAYGAIN HAY STEAMERS have been worth
the investment! Our horses look a million dollars – vast improvement in
their condition which is showing up in blood tests and clean scoping which
is now down to a minimum. They eat their hay so much better with not a scrap
of wastage in the boxes and no wastage now in the hay barn as all the hay is
steamed in the bale and then distributed. No mess. We get really good
instant service from the Haygain team.”

“At Oakham Veterinary Hospital we have
been using a Haygain Steamer since February 2010. It is used for hay fed to
all our post surgery inpatients, allergy sufferers and those that are
reluctant to eat. Steamed hay is more palatable; it has increased moisture
content with no loss of nutritional value and is dust free. Our nursing
staff and grooms find the Haygain Steamer clean and easy to use”.

"I invested in
Haygain in May 2010 due to having one of my top competition horses suffering
from a respiratory problem. Our previous Teff hay management programme
involved soaking all bales overnight prior to feeding, which in a small yard
with limited space and facilities, was labour intensive, messy and time
consuming. Added to this I was aware to remove dust and spores we were
stripping the nutritional value of the Teff. The Haygain has been the
streamlined solution to this – my whole experience has been so positive: the
Haygain distributors, Equiproducts Consultants, have been extremely prompt,
informative and helpful to deal with; installation was trouble–free: mystaff
where fully trained on the operating and maintenance requirements.
Subsequently, all of my horses have
improved in condition, my yard is easier to maintain and in just over an
hour we are assured of beautiful plump, nutritional Teff hay bales with all
the typical negative side effects removed".

“They are a great
idea, work very well and take the fungal dust problem away completely. I’ve
got 6 HAYGAIN units : three in each yard. I get the service and the horses
find even the top quality hay I feed more palatable, they really do eat it
well so there is little wastage. They look really good on it so I'm very
happy with HAYGAIN!”

" We have been using the naturally
steamed hay from the HAYGAIN hay steamer on our post-operative colic cases,
which is proving very useful in the recuperation and assisting in return to
feeding. It is highly palatable for horses that may be slow to eat following
surgery and while on extended time indoors. The HAYGAIN steamed hay is also
a welcomed feed for owners of horses prone to laminitis, as they now can
feed a succulent forage, without the worry of giving too much protein. The
increased palatability also enables a hay of lower nutritional quality to be
fed to these horses.
We have also found the HAYGAIN steamed
hay is the ideal roughage for horses that have respiratory problems.
Steaming eliminates all dust and fungal spores, while leaving the
nutritional value of the hay intact. This means that you can ensure your hay
is not a contributory factor in any respiratory allergy or airway
sensitivity. We recommend that owners with horses showing signs of
allergies steam their hay in this unique way as a way of making sure their
hay is not causing any stress on the horses' respiratory system. We would
see HAYGAIN hay steamers as a valuable tool in preventing breathing problems
in horses.
The HAYGAIN hay steamers are a robust
and very effective steamer and are a welcomed installation at
Troytown Equine Hospital.

"Haygain hay steamers have made a
significant contribution to the yard. Not only have we benfitted from
several cleaner scopes, but the horses also seem to love the steamed hay. We
have just taken delivery of yet another HAYGAIN hay steamer!"

“The horses love it! ****** sight
easier than soaking! Revitalises my hay. Second to none service from a very
knowledgeable team.”
Tim Stockdale, Olympic Show Jumper
“HAYGAIN hay
steamers have revolutionised the way I feed hay to my horses. It’s such a
comfort knowing our hay is so palatable and spore free. Dust- and
spore-free hay is vital to any sport horse, and in particular my eventers.
Very little water is needed, and as a result there is less waste and more
savings. It is also a much easier and less messy job than soaking.”
